Teach your preschoolers that God has made them special. Use the ideas in this guide to supplement your current curriculum or make your own.
The ideas below may help you teach a lesson on God Made Me. Feel free to use these ideas to supplement your current curriculum or to make your own lesson.
Instructions: Gather children in a circle. The teacher stands in the center to start the game. Begin by saying, "I see someone with brown shoes." Anyone who thinks the teacher is talking about her may say, "You see me." If she is right, she goes to the center and says, "I see someone..." If no one guesses right, give another hint. If a child doesn't wish to be in the center, casually pick someone else to take his place. The teacher can help by whispering hints to the child in the center, if needed. You can set a time limit on this game for however long you like.
Instructions: Everyone stands in a line. Players have to do the actions named only when the leader says, "Simon Says." For instance, if the leader says, "Simon Says, touch your toes," then all players should touch their toes. But, if the leader says, "Touch your toes," and someone does it, they are out of that round of the game. Some ideas to use may include:
You can even get creative and come up with your own versions of this game!
A good snack for this lesson would be people-shaped cookies that you can make with a gingerbread man or person-shaped cookie cutter. You can use M&Ms and Twizzlers for eyes and a mouth.
Another option could be to give the kids fruits and vegetables cut into face shapes (lips, eyes, etc.). Have them create a self-portrait and then eat their snack.
Preparation: Write, "God Made Me Special" at the bottom of each picture frame with a marker.
Suggested Prayer (or do your own)
Thank you, God for what you made. Thank you for the plants and trees. Thank you, God for all the birds. Thank you, God for making ME!
