Adults often teach children to pray. This is a good way for them to connect with God. But what about you? Do you have a prayer life?

Busy adults often get wrapped in the hustle and bustle of life and neglect their own relationship with God. This is why developing a Christian prayer life is so important. Take the time each day to have a relationship with God and reap the rewards.

Where to Start with Developing a Prayer Life

How can you develop a Christian prayer life? It may be easier than you think. One of the first things that you want to do is to pray each day. You need to set time aside each day to dedicate to prayer. Pray for the things that are on your mind, share the details of your life, and voice your fears and concerns. If you have never done this before, you may want to take it slow and build up time over time. Even a couple of minutes each day will be helpful to you and your praying. This should be an intimate time, so find a time that is quiet, to yourself and a place you can enjoy being. Remember that once this becomes a habit, you will likely see the benefits of daily prayer time transcend your entire life.

Bible Study Is Important

Next, in order to develop a Christian prayer life, you will want to study the Bible every day. The Bible is a big book and there are many stories and life lessons you can learn by studying the word of God. If you have a hard time understanding what you are reading, then find a good studying book that you can read along with the scripture. You can also join a weekly Bible study that will let you discuss the Bible with others. This will help you get greater meaning out of the Bible, as you interject personal experiences with biblical truths. You will also find how much you can gain from others' experiences and testimonials as well.

Take Time to Worship

Of course, in your quest for developing a Christian prayer life, you cannot forget to take time to worship. Find a good church that you can join and be involved with on a regular basis. You can take part in Bible studies and prayer groups that will help you get closer to God through worship. If you do not belong to a church, then begin by visiting several and seeing what each one has to offer. You might even want to check into adult Sunday school groups that the church offers, if you believe that you want to stay active. Keeping God at the center of worship will ultimately make sure He is the center of your life always.

Another part of developing a Christian prayer life is to allow God into your life each and every day. You know people that talk about God in their daily conversation like He is a close, personal friend. These are people that are living a Christian prayer life already. These are people that have allowed God to enter their lives. Allow yourself to do the same.

As you can see, it is an important part of a Christian life to become comfortable with prayer and see its value. Whether you are a new Christian or a veteran, you can start developing that personal relationship with God that prayer accomplishes at any stage of your life.
